The Miss Yorktown Pageant was founded over 70 years ago, long before the Yorktown Western Days festival began. This year’s Miss Yorktown Pageant will be held on Sunday, Sept. 18.

The 10 divisions will be Miss Yorktown (ages 14-18), Miss Yorktown Grand Duchess;  Junior Miss Yorktown (ages 11-13), Junior Miss Yorktown Grand Duchess, Junior Miss Yorktown Duchess; Young Miss Yorktown (ages 8-10), Young Mister Yorktown; Little Miss Yorktown (ages 4-7) and Little Mister Yorktown.

The Miss Yorktown pageant is a scholarship program that encourages all contestants to be their own individuals while supporting their community. The goal is to provide the youth with opportunities for them to excel as young adults. The Miss Yorktown Royalty represents the City of Yorktown and the Yorktown Western Days Association at all parades and community activities throughout the year. The court serves numerous volunteer service hours throughout the year doing various community service projects and helping with community events.

Scholarships are awarded at the end of the 2022-2023 pageant year.

“We look forward to working with all our Miss Yorktown contestants, and I am hoping that all the children and young adults will cherish these memories for many years to come,” said pageant committee chair Kristin Gibson. In addition to Gibson, Tracy Parrett is also on the Miss Yorktown Pageant Committee.

This year’s pageant will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18, at the YISD Auditorium. The emcee for the evening will be Carla Sullivan, a YISD kindergarten teacher. Tickets will be sold at the door—adults will be $5 each and children (12 and under) will be $2 each. Extra flowers will be available for sale for parents, guardians and other family members to purchase for their loved ones who are participating in the pageant.
