Summing up an entire 12 years of school isn’t an easy task, but it’s what the News-View has asked Nordheim’s Class of 2020 salutatorian, David Torres to do; or at least a look back at his senior year.
“I do have a few moments that stick out,” said Torres during a Facetime interview. “Spending time with friends on roadtrips and running with them during track meets, or cross country meets or anything similar to that–that was probably my favorite time in high school.”
The senior, along with his brother, Deric, made it to the State Cross Country meet this year, ultimately kicking off his senior year with quite the bang. The Nordheim Pirate duo finished in the top-50 out of 147 runners in the 1A boys division, each running 5,000 meters.
Torres was also involved in basketball, track, golf, tennis, and baseball.
“Junior and senior year, I was only involved in cross country, basketball, and track because I wanted to focus on getting good at those– and I’m glad I made that decision because I improved a bunch last year, and I’m sad that I couldn’t do much this year in track.”
