Nordheim structure fire deemed total loss
According to a press release from DeWitt County Emergency Management, at approximately 7:40 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2019, Nordheim Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the 200 block of Wunderlich’ Road in Nordheim for a structure fire.
The release continued on to say that upon arrival the house was fully engulfed and a request for additional assistance and equipment from Yorktown, Runge and Westhoff Volunteer Fire Departments, along with DeWitt County Commissioner Kiser for additional water.
Yorktown Volunteer EMS was on standby for the safety of the firefighters. In total, 30 firefighters and 11 apparatus responded to the call.
All residents were able to exit the home without injuries. Red Cross was called to assist the family with lodging. The home is reported to be a total loss.
The release mentions that Nordheim VFD remained on scene until about 3:00 pm putting out hot spots.
