Out to alarm Texas

Hochheim Prarie Insurance and the Insurance Council of Texas teamed up for the first time to protect homes in DeWitt County from fires by donating 100 smoke detectors to the Cuero and Yoakum Fire Departments. These smoke detectors will be given to local homes that do not currently have a smoke detector, or homes where the alarms are out of date. President of Hochheim Prairie Insurance, Linda Schmidt was thrilled to visit the home of Roberta and Chuck Blank to install the first smoke detector. The Blanks had not changed their smoke detectors in about 30 years. “Smoke alarms save lives and property, and the program also builds a better working relationship between the fire deparements and their community,” said Schmidt.
