Yorktown ISD students took fundraising to a new level with a successful penny drive for Pet Adoptions of Cuero. The YISD Elementary Student Council arrived at the shelter last week with a big check in hand. Student Council President Drake Cates presented the nonprofit pet shelter and rescue with a check for $1,178.58. Representing PAOC were Nelda and Paul Huber, Pat Kennedy and Linda Anzaldua. The students spent the morning touring and learning the daily chores of taking care of an average of 25 to 30 puppies and dogs and 20+ cats and kittens and all that goes into making them healthy, social and ready for adoption. Special thanks to all the students, teachers, staff and parents who helped raise the needed funds for this competitive fun “penny” drive and also to Citizens Bank in Yorktown for counting all those coins.
