President of University of Houston-Victoria, Robert K. (Bob) Glenn, joined the Cuero Development Corporation’s Friday morning Community Leader’s Meeting, and explained his intentions for the future of higher education for Cuero and the surrounding communities.Glenn opened up the meeting by explaining that UHV is looking to become more involved in the K-12 school systems surrounding Victoria, and plans on gaining the attention of children who would typically write college off. “I think part of what higher education’s got to do is to work more intentionally with K-12 to show children that there is a path forward for them,” Glenn stated. “ It may not be through higher education— there are lots of jobs that go unfilled because we don’t have the kind of training, whether it be an associates’ degree, or bachelor’s degree.” Glenn explained that he will be meeting with the President of Victoria College, David Hinds, and the Victoria ISD Superintendent, Quintin Shephard to discuss what programs they can work together on that will show students that there is a way forward for them.
