Everyone looks for those specific traits when it comes to finding the right doctor. Sometimes it can be hard to find with the hassle of dealing with insurance. Dr. Claire Zengerle knows the challenges that surround insurance companies so she opted to open her own Direct Primary Care (DPC) family practice.

Dr. Zengerle is a licensed family doctor with decades of experience in the medical field. Zengerle Medical Clinic is located at 2721 FM 2718 just about a 10 minute, seven mile trip from Cuero, and a 14 minute, 12 mile trip from Yorktown. Serving all of DeWitt County and beyond the small rural doctor feel offers a new option for people seeking quality healthcare at prices they can afford.

“We’re very excited,” said Dr. Zengerle on her overall excitement level. “We have been working on it since November of last year and had a lot of bumps along the way, but everything came together. We were really excited to get open and just kind of start a whole new phase of my career.”

The building renovations took roughly six months while also battling supply chain issues while ordering supplies. A ribbon cutting was held on Thursday, Sept. 13, to officially embark on the new journey.

Prior to her past, offering DPC services is a little different but the main focus revolves around the patient. With no wasted time of dealing with the hassle that comes with insurance companies, the focus is centered on delivering quality care to patients. Dr. Zengerle also offers telehealth services along with a telemedicine license in the state of Texas.

“It’s kind of new to me, you know as I was looking for a change I started just doing a little research online and ran across that model,” said Dr. Zengerle. “The whole premise of the DPC is to have direct care without the middle man. There’s no insurance burden or medicare or Medicaid burden. I don’t have to work for the insurance companies, I don’t have to work for an employer, I work for the patient, directly for the patient.”

Enrolling in the membership Dr. Zengerle offers will be a monthly charge of $49. A membership gets you unlimited $10 visits. While affordable and transparent, there are a plethora of benefits you can take advantage of all while receiving down-to-earth care.

“With the lab prices being so affordable that’s been really helpful to get things done,” said Dr. Zengerle. “Some people of lower income or no insurance or many, many people have high deductibles on their insurance that they will never meet so it kind of fits that niche there.”
