Repairs begin on retaining wall

Close to a year after a retaining wall on the 100 block of South Valley Street collapsed, reconstruction on the wall began on Monday, May 9, in DeWitt County Drainage District No. 1 (DCDD1). CivilCorp LLC and Dunn Services will be working with DCDD1 to excavate and reconstruct a retaining wall of the drainage ditch on South Valley Street that collapsed on Thursday, June 3.

Advanced engineering technologies that has developed since the initial construction of the wall in the mid-1900s will ensure increased longevity and structural integrity. DCDD1 will be implementing these improved solutions both now, and on future projects. Please watch for local traffic signage as construction begins.
