This is their time: Yorktown Wildcat Band receives highest honor at UIL competition

For only the 3rd time in history, the Yorktown Roaring Wildcat Band has received straight 1’s at their annual UIL Region 12 Concert and Sight Reading Competition. On Wednesday, Mar. 6, under new Band Director, Trent Enriquez, the Wildcat Band headed out to Canyon Lake to perform for the UIL judges, and their true talent really showed through.

In simpler terms, the Wildcat Band performed “nearly perfect” according to the UIL judging rubric, which focuses on tone, technique, and musicianship.

The Wildcat Band competed with 3 different concert pieces, and participated in the sight reading contest, in which the Band performs music that is given to students and the Director with only about 7 minutes to rehearse before performing for the judges.
