Back in June, 12-year-old Connor Thigpen of Cuero competed in the 2021 Junior World Skeet Championships in Rochester, New York.

Thigpen won high overalls in his sub-junior age group breaking 390 out of 400 targets to capture the 2021 World Championship.

“I started skeet shooting when I was younger and once I was of age to compete, I started shooting with 4H,” Thigpen recounted, “but this competition was on its own. It was something I wanted to go out and do good by myself.”

And that he did. In addition to winning the world championship, Thigpen also placed in all six individual events. He got first place in the 100 bird “Champion of champions” with a score of 97, first in doubles with a score of 94 and won the 20 gauge event with an outright score of 99.
