A touch of light

Renovations and upkeep continues throughout Cuero Regional Hospital. In July, updates on the emergency department were completed. The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) was up next, and their work finished last month.

Through the combined efforts of the DeWitt Medical Foundation, Cuero Regional Hospital volunteers and hospital staff, the ICU has a new, lively look. New floors were provided by the hospital volunteers; a new nursing station was installed by Goebel Woodwork; and an updated paint job rounded out the renovatinos.

Cuero Regional Hopital’s ICU Director Jennifer Janssen was thrilled with the ICU’s new look.

“It means everything to us,” she said. “We always give excellent care to our patients, but it’s real nice and refreshing to have patients be able to come in and see how beautiful it is and have nice scenery, as well as someone good taking care of you. It helps a lot in bringing up everybody’s spirit and morale.”

During the renovation process, the ICU was temporarily located in the Day Surgery area. The ICU started the move back on Monday, Sept. 17 and officially opened the same day.

Cuero Health Lynn Falcone is pleased to have the updated ICU to go along with her caring staff.

“With these renovations, our ICU is a much more pleasing space for patient care and visitors,” Falcone said.

“Lots of people came together to bring this together for us, and we’re very grateful,” Janssen added.

The hospital is now completing work on the day surgery unit and will then move to the second floor.

Cuero Regional Hospital is located at 2550 N. Esplanade in Cuero, Texas and offers an ED-Level IV Trauma Center, on-staff General Surgeon, and a TeleStroke program. For more information, visit www.cuerohospital.org or call 361-275-6191.
