Town Market BBQ opens in Yorktown

Yorktown has recently welcomed a new restaurant, Town Market BBQ, located at 444 West Main, just across from Dairy Queen. The building has previously been many things, including a Mexican restaurant, and building owner and restaurant co-owner John Golding is hoping Town Market BBQ will last far into the future.

“I’ve owned this building for a long time,” Golding explained, “and I was going to sell it to the school, and they didn’t want it. I threw up my hands and I said, well, I’m calling Eric.” Eric Helbing is pitmaster for Town Market BBQ and co-owner with Golding.

“I’m either going to sell it or bulldoze it or do something, I don’t like vacant,” Golding stated. “But you’ve got a very busy corner and we’re just filling a void in the market. You’ve got Subway, Dairy Queen, 5D and Jalisco’s, and I’ve always felt like the town needed more restaurants, especially barbeque.”

Town Market is currently open from around 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day but Monday.
