    A single wide trailer that caught fire in the early morning hours of Sunday, Feb. 9 was a total loss.

Trailer Fire on 8th Street

Around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9, a trailer in the 300 block of W. 8th Street was a total loss after catching  on fire. According to DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office investigator Richard Ramirez, the fire was concentrated in the kitchen area and spread from there. No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported on scene.

Firefighters were able to get the fire out just after 4 a.m.; a flare up occured around 9 a.m. and a brush truck was able to put it out. “The single-wide trailer had no electricity at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and is still under investigation,” said Ramirez.

Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department, Nordheim Volunteer Fire Department, Yorktown EMS, DCSO, Red Cross and DeWitt County Emergency Management responded to the blaze.
