Turkey sister city provides support

Editor’s Note: The following story was contributed to The Cuero Record by Brenda Martin.

With Hurricane Harvey came much destruction and devastation. Even though Cuero’s devastation was minimal compared to surrounding coastal towns, Angie Cuellar saw a need to continue efforts by opening a distribution center at Lifeway Baptist Church despite the church’s own devastation.

Lifeway church suffered much roof and water damage throughout the building. Despite this damage the church was still able to use the sanctuary as a collection site for supplies for those in need post Hurricane Harvey.

Angie Cuellar stated, “The church is just a building; the people make the church. Our building may be damaged, but our hearts aren’t and by us becoming a distribution center and helping to get needed supplies to people, we help spread God’s love. We are called to serve one another and this was a way we can continue to worship. Buildings can be rebuilt; relationships last a lifetime.”
