Turkeyfest this weekend

Turkeyfest is back. After a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic surge in 2020, the turkeys are ready to race Oct. 9 in downtown Cuero at 10:30 a.m. with the festival kicking off on Friday, Oct. 8 with three days of live music, entertainment, food, shopping, carnival, BBQ cook-off and more. Attendees are encouraged to buy early bird tickets at a discounted price and not miss the spectacle that is the running of the Great Gobbler Gallop, the race between Paycheck of Worthington, Minnesota and Ruby Begonia of Cuero at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 10:30 a.m. downtown Cuero.

The fun starts on Thursday, Oct. 7 with a Fun After Five mixer on the festival grounds from 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. in the Cuero Municipal Park with free food and refreshments. The carnival will also be open from 6 to 10 p.m. that evening (admission is free and wristbands or tickets will be available for purchase).

Starting Friday, Oct. 8, the carnival will be open from 5 p.m. to midnight and live music filling the air with two stages this year; the larger headliner stage on the Knoll and the smaller stage at the Pavilion in Cuero Municipal Park. Friday night’s headliner is local favorite, Cory Morrow, starting at 10:30 p.m. performing from the Knoll stage. Live music starts at 5:30 p.m. with the Tainted Heart Band, then Shane

and Renee Total Entertainment DJ from 7 – 8:30 p.m., followed by the Chad Cooke Band and culminating with headliner Cory Morrow at 10:30 p.m.
