Two men injured in physical altercation, stabbing in Yorktown
At about 9:15 a.m. this morning DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a call of a possible gunshot victim at Yorktown City Hall and the person was bleeding heavily. When deputies and EMS arrived on scene it was determined it was a knife wound and not a gunshot wound.
Glenn Meisen, 63, of Nordheim was stabbed twice, once in the chest and once in the wrist. He also had other physical injuries consistent with a physical altercation. He was treated on scene and airlifted to BAMC in San Antonio.
Meisen identified Willie Campbell, 41, of Yorktown as the person who stabbed him. Law enforcement located Campbell on 8th Street where they saw a knife wound on his upper-inner thigh. Campbell was taken by ambulance to DeTar in Victoria in stable condition.
Through further investigation and witness statements it was found that Meisen and Campbell were in a physical altercation at a residence in the 500 block of Kraege Street in Yorktown. “DCSO is in the process of obtaining a search warrant of the residence where the altercation occurred in an effort to locate the knife,” said DeWitt County Sheriff Carl Bowen.
Bowen also stated that it appears after being stabbed Meisen got into his vehicle and drove away. When dispatch received the call he was in front of City Hall, on the corner of Main and Riedel Streets. As of 12:30 p.m. today, April 7, Meisen was in stable condition.
