A visit from our representatives

Hundreds of attendees filled the Yoakum Community Center to hear from notable Republican politicians at the 2022 Save America Rally hosted by the Republican Women of Yoakum Area (RWOYA) Saturday, Aug. 27.

Congressman Michael Cloud representing Texas’ District 27, Texas Senator Lois Kolkhorst of District 18 and Congresswoman Lauren Boebert from Colorado’s District 3 addressed the audience on the importance of voter participation in November’s Texas gubernatorial election.

Following an introduction from Lavaca County Judge Mark Myers, Kolkhorst praised RWOYA for hosting the event at a critical time.

“I just want to say how important you being here tonight is. Michael and I both have a general election, and I am fired up about it….,” said Kolkhorst to the crowd of approximately 200. “I just want to say that your vote matters, your enthusiasm matters, your opinion matters.”

Congressman Cloud echoed the state senator’s sentiment through a speech riddled with references to scripture and U.S. history.

“We’re up there working hard; I know our state senator is working hard…,” said Cloud. “We’re going to do everything we can from Washington, but I’m here to tell you it’s going to take all of us doing our part.”
