Yorktown ISD handles possible threat to junior high campus
According to a press release from the Yorktown ISD superintendent, Katherine Kuenstler, YISD was made aware of a possible threat regarding the Junior High school campus on Thursday night. The release goes on to say that law enforcement was notified immediately, and appropriate steps were taken.
The release states that the threat was fully investigated by campus administration and law enforcement, and the student was secured before school began on Friday, May 10. “There was no threat to students, it was all handled before school,” stated Kuenstler. She continued, “We immediately notified [law enforcement] and they were very responsive and helpful.”
The press release states that the school district takes all threats seriously and asks the public to report anything that is seen or heard that may be a cause for concern. The release ends with notifying parents that if there is ever an emergency in the district, that YISD will notify all parents via web-page, news outlets, or by phone and email.
