The City of Yorktown and DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office finalized a 24-hour law enforcement services agreement through September 2023 with a 5% cost increase to make up for price increases over the last two years.

County commissioners heard from Sheriff Carl Bowen for the second consecutive meeting concerning the agreement that allocates law enforcement services in Yorktown to the DCSO Monday, Sept. 26.

Previously, the sheriff said the proposed increase would not fully cover expenditures, the additional funding aimed to counter a portion of the deficit.

“Last session, the Court tabled the interlocal agreement that will provide law enforcement services to the City of Yorktown by the DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office for the next twelve months,” said Bowen during the meeting.
