County receives rural grant money from state

The DeWitt County Commissioner’s Court got one step closer to re-routing FM 240 in Westoff away from the school area at their regular meeting Monday. They also amended the budget to accept increases for the County Attorney and Sheriff’s offices coming from state grants.

April 12-13, the Texas Hero Memorial Foundation hosted its third annual BBQ Cookoff at the Cuero Municipal Park with BBQ cookers from near and far doing what they enjoy while they remember their heroes. Thanks for coming to Cuero!

Book Signing for Civil War Exhibit

The Cuero Heritage Museum and The DeWitt County Historic Commission proudly unveiled an intriguing new exhibit titled 'War & Peace on the Rio Grande Valley, 1861-1867,' in collaboration with the Rio Grande Valley Civil War Trail from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and CHAPS. The grand opening event was held on April 6, which featured an engaging book signing session, allowing attendees to meet with esteemed authors and historians, Christopher L. Miller, Russell K. Skowronek and Roseann Bacha-Garza who have contributed to the exploration and understanding of the Rio Grande Valley's Civil War legacy.

Gas prices still lower than last year

Why are we always chasing rainbows? For as long as I can remember I have heard there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I would often wonder if the phrase “chasing rainbows” came from hunting or wishing to find that pot of gold? I marvel at the colors in the rainbow when I see one going across the sky.
