A ribbon cutting and grand opening was held last week for StudioBuilt manufacturing facility in Cuero. The event took place on Wednesday, April 5, and featured a ribbon cutting ceremony and factory tours.

Celebrating 175 Years: Mrs. Ceasar (Louise) Eckhardt

The Civil War Years in Yorktown were devastating. However, a very brave and admirable woman is believed to have saved Yorktown. That was Mrs. Ceasar (Louise) Eckhardt. Almost all of the men except the very elderly left to serve in the war.

Knostman named athletic director

Yorktown Independent School District named Ryan Knostman as its newest athletic director and head football coach. Knostman joins Yorktown after serving as an offensive coordinator, middle school basketball, and head tennis coach at Johnson City ISD.

Gwosdz places 4th in state powerlifting meet

Local Yorktown resident and Karnes County ISD student, Madison Gwosdz, competed at the Girls State Powerlifting meet in Frisco on March 16. Gwosdz placed an impressive 4th in her weight class while also breaking two of her personal best records; lifting 290 pounds in squat, 150 pounds in bench (PB) and 270 pounds in deadlift (PB) for a total of 710 pounds. Gwosdz was also selected for the THSWPA Academic All-State 1st Team.
