Morning coffee and donuts

The DeWitt County VVA is hosting Morning Coffee and Donuts, on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, for all Veterans of any era. Coffee and donuts will be at the DeWitt County Veteran’s Center, 901 TX-72, Yorktown.

City Council discusses lengthy agenda

The City of Cuero’s March City Council Meeting was held March 13 in Cuero City Council Chambers No public comments; Council moved to presentations and recognitions, with Mayor Sara Post Meyer reading the 150th City of Cuero Anniversary Proclamation. This was followed by the FY 2022-2023 Annual Audit Report from Melissa Terry of Harrison, Waldrop & Uherek, LLP. She corrected that it was the annual 2021-2022 audit and presented the audit results ending Sept. 30, 2022. The summary audit results provided highlights in compliance and operations and financial audit results. The City of Cuero received a “clean” opinion, there were no findings in terms of internal controls. The management discussion and analysis followed, including the financial highlights. It was presented that the total assets of the City was $63.7 million and the Cuero Development Corporation was $2.4 million ending Sept. 30, 2022.

CHS class of 1983 contacts needed

Houston pet rescue steps up for Cuero’s own nonprofit adoption center

Pet Adoptions of Cuero suffered a bit of a setback recently with a theft of pet food, supplies, dog meds and tools but word got out to a great organization in Houston – Houston K-911 Rescue. Their leader, Anna Barbosa heard of the non profit’s plight via Cuero’s own Kathleen Amyx, one of the dedicated volunteers at PAOC. This Houston team of supporters and fellow rescue-ites went straight to Amazon with orders of pet food, treats and shelter supplies.
