DeWitt County Retired School Personnel hear talk concerning bees

Body
Emory Powitsky and Pat Koenig presented an enlightening program about bee keeping to the DeWitt County Retired School Personnel at their February meeting. Besides information about the habits and products of bees, the couple delivered a message about the importance of bees to the lives of all living things. We often think of bees as honey producers, and some species introduced to the American colonies by the Europeans do just that. However, there are many native species of bees that do not produce excessive amounts of honey for human consumption, but all bees have one function in common. They pollinate plants – all plants including the crops that we eat and the crops that meat animals eat. The bee is the little worker that makes life possible.
