Kitty Kat softball team under new direction

Courtney Clark was promoted to head girls softball coach at the close of last school year and after serving as an assistant to Coach Heasley who announced her retirement. Clark attended the University of Houston - Victoria and obtained a Bachelors in Kinesiology.

Longoria is State Bound

Aubri Longoria, senior at Yorktown High School, advanced to the State Powerlifting meet this past Saturday. She competed at the Regional meet in Robstown finishing 2nd in her weight class of 123, 2A Region 5.

Nordheim FFA members place at San Antonio Livestock Show

Nordheim FFA members took part in the San Antonio Stock Show during the month of February. Carly Meeting took 3rd place, Elizabeth Guinn took 5th place and Bryce Tessmann took 6th place with heifers. Eliot Klien was 6th place with a light weight Limousine steer falling short of a sale spot. Percy Torrez, showing under Dewitt County 4-H was able to win the lightweight Limousine class earning a sale spot.

Street takeover spurs governor’s action

Gov. Greg Abbott has created a statewide task force after several “street takeovers” recently took place in Austin in which motorists obstructed intersections, shot off fireworks and drove recklessly.

Lucille Curl celebrates 101 years

Lucille Curl reach the milestone birthday of 101 on Feb. 17. She has three daughters, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Lucille is a current resident of Cuero and has lived here for close to 50 years. Her family would like to thank her caregivers who have given so much of themselves and have supported her through the years. She could not have made this milestone without them.
