Pilot Club makes donation to CISD Anchor Club

The Pilot Club of Cuero presented a check to the Cuero High School Anchor Club for $1,000 to help with costs for students to attent the Texas District Anchor Club Convention in February. The Anchor Club helps high school students learn valuable skills that prepare them to become more understanding of those in need while having fun through fellowship and service. The focus for Anchor and Pilot is brain health awareness through education of brain related disorders and effects of traumatic brain injury on individuals and their caregivers. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO

Chief Lewis retires after 50 years in law enforcement

Twelve years as chief in Cuero, two as a detective with Port Lavaca Police Department (PD), seven as patrol captain and ultimately chief deputy with DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office, a decade as a detective in Friendswood, two years with Jacksonville PD as a patrol officer, four as police chief in Berryville and 12 with Galveston County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO)… Cuero Chief of Police Jay Lewis is about as seasoned as criminal justice professionals come.
