KCB Holds Coloring Contest in Recognition of April 22 Earth Day

Keep Cuero Beautiful, a Keep Texas Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful affiliate, sponsored a coloring contest for grades PreK 3-4 through 4th in recognition of April 22 Earth Day. Winners, who received local restaurant gift cards, were announced by KCB members Emily Davis and Katelynn Meitzen, chairmen of the contest, who said, “There were 150 entries this year making judging difficult. We appreciate the participation from the several schools and classes. We congratulate each winner!”

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

Child welfare advocates place cutouts, representing the 43 children of De-Witt County in foster care, along Broadway Street in a ceremony on April 1. The 123 blue pinwheels represent the reports of child abuse in 2023. Residents and businesses are asked to shine a blue light in their entryway throughout the month to bring awareness to child abuse prevention.

Sweet Lacy has been at the city animal control facility for almost 100 days after being picked up as a stray. Unfortunately she has been overlooked. This girl has it all, beauty and brains. She’s a very active, dog friendly and playful girl that could use a little guidance. In return she would be a phenomenal companion for a loving family.

Golf Teams Grab District Gold

The Yorktown Wildcat and Kitty Kat golf teams participated in the District 31 -2A tournament in Corpus Christi at Gabe Lozano Golf Course on April 9. The following teams entered the Boys Division: Port Aransas, Woodsboro, Skidmore Tynan, and Yorktown.
