JAY CONDIE

Body
I am running for reelection. I was appointed to fill the unexpired term of my predecessor in 2019 and first ran for office in 2020. I enjoy working for DeWitt County and the citizens of DeWitt County who I serve. To be effective at an elected position such as this you need to put the position before yourself and I hope that I am successful in doing that. The county is involved in a number of different issues at this time. These issues are going to take some time to resolve and so I look forward to seeing these projects through to their conclusion.

ISAAC BRIDGES

Body
ISAAC BRIDGES Running for for DeWitt County Constable Precinct 1 Why are you running for this position? I feel the constable’s position is more than just court security and serving papers. In addition to this, a constable should also be able to supplement and assist other law enforcement agencies in the community.

ROY KUESTER

Body
I want to serve Precinct 1 (voting boxes 101, 102, 201, 202 & 203), this community and my neighbors. This community is where I grew up and where my family has lived for generations. I want to be a constable who prioritizes the safety, the needs, and concerns of our community.

YISD Blood Drive

Body
A huge congratulations to Yorktown ISD who just set a new blood drive record on February 6. This was the number one largest collection of blood yesterday and also the number one most efficient and sustainable mobile collection of blood in all of South Texas.

Celebrating 175 Years: Support of Citizens

Body
When one looks at the community calendar or at the News Briefs in the Yorktown NewsView almost monthly somewhere in the area a benefit lunch is to be had. School organizations such as Athletics and the Band have barbecue lunches or chicken dinners for purchase. The funds raised are used for their needs. The Fire Department has an annual Stew Supper which helps them with their needs. When disaster hits a family; friends and family will come together to prepare barbecue plates which will benefit the recipient. All of this is fellowship for those preparing and a tasty meal for those purchasing a meal to benefit a worthy endeavor. Citizens eagerly await May and October when the Gruenau Community prepares sausage to purchase along with sausage lunches. The Garfield community often has a sausage supper along with dances which is a benefit to their operations. These lunches and dinners are by no means a small undertaking for any of the organizations but it certainly again shows the community of Yorktown is a caring and working together community.

Why do we not sing the Doxology anymore?

Body
All of us at some point in our life are excited to be going to our earthly home. Once we get within a few miles the anxiety of being with our loved ones and friends become something we are looking forward to. No one has to prompt us to be ready for the arrival because we are excited and our heart is jumping with joy.
