With towering plumes of black smoke and an orange blaze that could be seen for miles, Yorktown and Nordheim Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a fire at approximately 5:45 p.m.
Fatal one-vehicle crash

A fatal crash occured Monday, July 10 outside of Yorktown at 11:10 a.m. on FM 240, about 1.5 miles south of FM 2542. Raymond Alvarez, 62, of Yorktown was driving a Mack dump truck.
