Gun Calendars Still Available

The Cuero Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce the release of the highly anticipated 2024 Gun Calendars and the calendars are selling fast, according to leaders at the Chamber. “These calendars are not only a perfect gift for gun enthusiasts but also offer a chance to win a firearm every week through the Gun Raffle. This is the second year that the Cuero Chamber is providing this exciting fundraiser, largely due to the popularity of the initial 2023 gun calendar,” said Angie Cuellar, Executive Director of the Cuero Chamber of Commerce.

Winter Preparedness for People with Disabilities and Older Adults

Winter storms can often lead to: carbon monoxide poisoning related to power outages; hypothermia and frostbite; and mental health impacts. Freezing temperatures and winter storms leave people with disabilities, older adults and those with chronic health conditions without power for life-saving medical supplies and without the ability to charge Assistive Technologies or other power-dependent devices.

Regional Equipping the Saints 2024

2024 is the 40th anniversary for the annual Equipping the Saints (ETS) sponsored by the Bluebonnet Conference of ELCA Congregations. The all-day event is being hosted by St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 400 N. Esplanade, Cuero on Saturday, February 3. This year’s theme is “Celebrating the Past, Understanding The Present and Preparing for the Future.”

Famous DeWitt County Feud to be Featured

The group Texas Comedies has created a show featuring the Sutton-Taylor Feud, a significant period in DeWitt County history. While the all-ages musical comedy certainly takes liberties with the events, the February 2nd show will feature an introduction from Chuck Parsons, author of the The Sutton-Taylor Feud. Part of this story involves a gunfight that was held on July 18th, 1873 in Cuero. Baumann family makes generous donation to Nordheim ISD

The Nordheim ISD was recently gifted with a donation of 180 acres of property, along with related minerals and producing royalty interests. The seven figure donation is situated approximately 3 ½ miles south of Nordheim ISD’s existing campus on FM 239. The generous donation was given in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred A. and Elsie Baumann by their children, Shirley Baumann Davis and Wilfred Baumann. The property has been owned by the Baumann family for approximately 120 years.
