Cuero Council to Name Replacements

With a vacancy in District 1 and an upcoming vacancy in an at-large seat, the Cuero City Council will be appointing two replacements. In District 1, which is the northwest section of town, elected member Greg Freeman moved out of the area, so he had to resign the seat.

Caution Urged Around Rookery Islands to Protect Nesting Grounds

As spring weather transitions to summer and outdoor enthusiasts begin to flock to the coast, boaters will begin to see islands covered with large congregations of nesting birds. These islands, known as rookery islands, provide breeding homes (and nurseries) for thousands of iconic coastal birds such as brown pelicans, roseate spoonbills, black skimmers, reddish egrets and other species in Texas bays.

CJHS advance to State Finals

A group of Cuero Junior High School students will be competing at Texas A & M as State Finalists for the Texas Science & Engineering Fair Saturday, March 23. Throughout the weekend they were able to have the opportunity to showcase their research with other finalists.

April Proclaimed Child Abuse Awareness, Prevention Month

In order to increase awareness and prevention of child abuse in De-Witt County, the commissioners court, at their regular meeting on Monday, declared April 2024 as Child Abuse Awareness month. Judge Fowler read the full proclamation outlining the seriousness of the problem and encouraging the cooperation of community groups and agencies in helping vulnerable children.
