DeWitt County History Book Has Been Reprinted

DeWitt County is rich with history! Individuals such as Rosemary Sheppard, Patsy Goebel, and William Foster spearheaded an attempt to corral that history in one volume, and so the DeWitt County History Book project was born.

The Yorktown Wildcat Band just put the finishing touches on their 2023 competitive marching season. The marching band competed in US Bands Victoria, UIL Marching Contest, Western Days Parade, and our busy Friday night activities as well. We closed out our regular home season by honoring our Band seniors and hosting all band students grades 6-12 in our 3rd annual “Mass Bands Spectacular” at the Snook game halftime performance.

The Boys and Girls Club of Cuero along with EXPRESS proudly presented The Wizard of Oz on October, 28th and October 29th at Cuero’s Performing Arts Centers. “It was outstanding! These shows have many moving parts and take a small village to make it happen,” says Boys and Girls Club of Cuero Executive Director Megan Boehl.

I recently watched a video of a young girl mistreating a city employee because her lifestyle seemed to be much better than the worker of the sanitation department. The worker was doing her job of cleaning the streets when the girl bumped into her.

6 Hour CEU Event to Be Held in Cuero

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of DeWitt County, DeWitt County Beef and Forage Committee, and Cuero Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture are sponsoring a 6 Hour CEU Event to be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. The program will be held at the Anne Friar Thomas Homemaking Building, located in the Cuero City Park attached to the Friar Ag Center.

61st Annual DeWitt County Pecan Show

The 61st Annual De-Witt County Pecan Show and Pecan Bake Show will be held on Monday and Tuesday, November 20-21, 2023, at the Friar Ag Center in the Cuero City Park. Pecan Show judging will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the 21st. Residents as well as Commercial producers are encouraged to enter their pecan in the show. Participants are encouraged to enter as many pecan varieties as they can. As an incentive, champions of each division (Native, Commercial, and Classic) will be awarded a $25 cash prize. Pecan entries need to be brought to the DeWitt County Extension Office by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20th, or dropped off at the Ag Center by 8:00 a.m. on November 21st.
