By Kimber McCrory Yorktown News-View Our community has approximately 60 elderly residents that depend on The Community Action Committee of Victoria (CACVT) for their nutritional needs. This translates to Yorktown has 60 or so senior citizens that rely on someone else for their meals. There are currently 28 citizens on the roster that meet Monday through Friday at the Fire Station for their noon meal. There are 32 others who are homebound and have their meals delivered to them. In many cases, this is the only meal they get daily.

The Commissioners Court of DeWitt County held a regular meeting on June 26 at 9 a.m. in the County Courtroom of the DeWitt County Courthouse, in Cuero.

The way the world is today gives me and most Christians a lot of concern. I never thought I would see the day when our elected politicians would give into the ideals and ideas of the world instead of listening to their hearts and following what the Bible tells us to do.

The City of Cuero’s monthly City Council Meeting was held, Tuesday June 12, in the Cuero City Council Chambers; the following are the highlights from the meeting. The meeting began with the swearing in of new police officer Armando Guerra.

Tuesday, June 13 at 10 a.m., the City of Cuero and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas held a ribbon cutting to announce the opening of the Fitness Court in the city park. The ceremony was opened by Cuero Mayor Sara Post-Meyer and included several speakers, including Brandi Bender with BCBSTX, Tamara Kainer with Cuero Hospital, Tami Brzozowski with The Wellness Center and Ambassadors Sean Burks and Amber Rangel.
