Mancel was born on November 7, 1936, in Davy, Texas to Erich and Olivia Thieme Mueller. He grew up in the Garfield Community outside of Yorktown and graduated from Yorktown High School in 1955. He then attended Baldwin Business School. After graduation, Mancel moved to Houston and began his career with Tenneco. He left there to join the AirForce in 1958. After his service, he returned to Tenneco where he served as Employee Relations Area Manager. Mancel ended his 36-year career as the Superintendent in Victoria, Texas.

Mancel was many things to many people throughout his remarkable life. First and foremost, he loved his Lord and Savior. While in Victoria, he and his wife, Carolynn, along with their son, Deric, joined Grace Lutheran Church, where he served in many capacities, most significantly as an Elder of the church for 20 years.

Family was very important to Mancel. He always loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, sisters, and various other friends and family. He and Carolynn spent many years on their ranch in Yorktown raising cattle (his first love) until his passing.

Mancel is survived by his wife, Carolynn Mueller, daughters Michelle (Bill) Lang and Tammy (Mike) Hamric and son Deric (Kellea) Mueller. He is also survived by his grandchildren Amanda (Blake) Batchelor, Michael Hamric, Colton Lang, Chloe Lang, Wyatt Mueller, Savannah Schwind, sisters Joyce Seidel and Sharon (Richard) White, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Gordon Seidel.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 5 to 7 PM at Massey Funeral Home in Yorktown. There will be a visitation on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 10 to 11 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Victoria. Funeral service will be Friday, February 14, 2025, at 11 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Victoria. Interment will follow at 2:30 PM at Westside Cemetery in Yorktown.

Pallbearers will be Deric Mueller, Colton Lang, Michael Hamric, Blake Batchelor, Brent White, Chase White, Wayne Seidel, and Wyatt Mueller. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dan Respondek, Chester Buesing and the Elders of Grace Lutheran Church.

Memorial contributions may be given to Grace Lutheran Church in Victoria, Texas, and Yorktown EMS.
