Johnnie Bednorz

Johnnie Bednorz, 90, of Yorktown, passed away February 15,2025. Johnnie was born February 19, 1934 in Nordheim, Texas to Isador and Ella Riedesel Bednorz. He was an entrepreneur starting businesses such as renting houses, Anchor Dozer Service, working in the oilfield, raising cattle and becoming Executive Vice President for Saw Drilling Company. He was a wonderful father, role model with a very compassionate heart towards others. He was also a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Johnnie is survived by his children: Sharon Bednorz of Merit, TX, Kathy Chappell of Yorktown, Rhonda (Freddie) Santiago of Arkansas, Chris (Monica) of North Zulch, and Jason Bednorz of Yorktown. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren Erica (Steven) Kahla, Chase (Blossom) Whitaker, Jessica Chappell, Duane (Tiffany) Bednorz, David (Jessica) Bednorz, Tatiana Bednorz, Austin Bednorz, Brian (Tori) Cornel, Daniel Cornel, Ashley (Carson) Howard, Audrie Bednorz, and Avery Bednorz; 14 great-grandchildren: Sidney, Edward, Kenneth, Asher, Riely, Reagan, Jameson, Genesis, Harley, Ethan, Oliver, Olivia and Elizabeth.

Johnnie is preceded in death by his parents, son Darrell Bednorz, brother Roland Machost, sisters: Agnes Saunders, Leona Saunders, Esther Saunders, and Pauline Waits.

Pallbearers are Brian, Chase, Daniel, Duane, David, and Freddie. Alternative pall bearers will be Darrell Spell and Austin Bednorz, Honorary pallbearer is Darrell Bednorz.

Visitation will be 12-2 pm Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Massey Funeral Home, Funeral Service will begin at 2 pm. Interment will be at Westside Cemetery.
