ELIZABETH “LIZ” J

Liz graduated from Nazareth Academy in 1966 and that same year married the love of her life, Claynell Leon Joiner Jr. Their life together took them across the country and abroad during Leon’s Army career, including years spent in Germany where Liz worked and raised their three daughters. They later raised a son after settling in Victoria, TX.

A two-time breast cancer survivor, Liz was known for her strength, faith, and perseverance. She worked 29 years at Wal-Mart, where she was admired for her dedication and kindness. After Leon’s passing in 2015, Liz treasured time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by daughters Lisha Joiner of New Mexico, Lesli Sturm of Cuero, Leela (Michael) Hallett of Victoria; son Christopher (Amanda) Joiner of Victoria; sister Hilda Parsons; brother Bobby (Bonnie) Schley; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Joiner, her parents, siblings; Karl Hugh, Gene, Herman, Ervin, Victor, Rusty, Clara, Vernell, and Evelyn, and one granddaughter, Katie Shafer.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with a reception to follow.
