HAROLD LAVELL B

October 14, 2025, Harold Lavell Butler passed away surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his 2 sons Harold R. Butler and David O. Butler, along with 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded by his two wives’ Jean and Martha, daughter Susan, stepdaughter Patricia, stepson George and stepson Robert.
Harold lived a life full of love, adventure and leaving an amazing legacy that all of his family are so proud of.
Harold was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Harlandale High School in San Antonio, Tx. After his graduation he entered the Navy which he served for 4 years. Shortly thereafter he married Jean Scott, and they had 3 children, he then moved on to become a Chemical Engineer, which he loved, where he traveled all over the world. His favorite place was living in St. Croix U.S.V.I. where his family grew (marriages happened and grandchildren born). After his worldly travels he retired to Nordheim, Texas to the family land that was established in 1878 where he built his home and started raising cattle. After the passing of Jean, he married his 2nd wife Martha Jackson, and they were married for 22 joyfilled years. After the passing of Martha, he moved in with his son, David and his wife Adrianne where he was able to live out the last year and half of his life. During this time, he spent many hours enjoying the company of his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren along with many of Dave and Adrianne’s friends. He spent hours fishing off their dock, ate at many different restaurants and even evacuated for 3 major hurricanes. Nothing slowed him down during this time and he always enjoyed being around people and greeted everyone with a smile saying, “Hi I am Harold Butler.” His life was a testament to the power of love, and his wit and smile will be deeply missed, yet forever remembered.
He was and will always be the “Patriarch” of our Butler family. Harold Butler, we love you and will always forever miss you and plan to see you again.
