ERWIN HENRY LANDGREBE

ERWIN HENRY LANDGREBE

Erwin Henry Landgrebe of Tynan, Texas entered the house of our Savior Jesus Christ on February 8, 2026. He was born on February 18, 1935 near Weser, Texas to the late Erwin Reinhardt and Louise Rogge Landgrebe. He married Norma Marie Schulle on November 18, 1956 at St. John Lutheran Church in Westhoff, Texas.

Erwin is survived by 2 children - David (Sharon) Landgrebe and Roger Landgrebe; 6 grandchildren; Keith (Selina) Landgrebe, Kevin (Paige) Landgrebe, Colton Landgrebe, Justin Landgrebe, Kate Landgrebe and Riley Landgrebe; 4 great-grandchildren; Isabella Landgrebe, Elizabeth Landgrebe, Reese Landgrebe and Norah Landgrebe; and many nieces and nephews who knew him as “Uncle Sonny.”

In addition to his parents, Erwin was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Marie Landgrebe; son, Keith Erwin Landgrebe; 4 sisters; Delores (Joe Ray) Prasek, Mary Lou (Thomas) Rabke, Viola (Arwood) Rohan, Lucy (Augustine) Reza and 1 brother; Leroy Landgrebe.

Erwin (Dad) grew up on a farm near Weser, Texas. Whether it was working in the fields and picking cotton with his siblings, tending to the livestock, saddling the horse for the ride to school, and a bit of “shenanigans” here and there. Dad had many stories of life on the farm, the work involved, the rationing during WWII and how to “make do and get by with little”.

After graduating and leaving home, Dad worked for Central Power and Light (CP&L) and American Electric Power (AEP) for 39 years. He enjoyed serving both country and the community. He was a proud member of the Texas Army National Guard representing the 36 infantry (T-Patchers) for 11 years.

Dad was a member of the local Lions Club and helped with the local Salvation Army. He enjoyed community events and spent decades with the Tynan Recreation Club, taking care of building maintenance, scheduling events and ensuring people could enjoy the dances, fall feasts, weddings, etc.

Most importantly, Dad gave his time and talents for our Lord through St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tynan, Texas. Dad and Mom lived next door to the church since 1965. For decades, Mom played music for church and Dad was active on the church council. Dad was elected treasurer in 1968 and served in that position for 54 years. Dad would always ensure the church grounds and building facilities were maintained. If there was one thing you could count on, it was that Mom and Dad were doing something for the church, and being in church, every Sunday.

We will always remember Dad as a faithful and gentle man who loved God, family and country. Memories of his ability to piece together the family tree by memory, his sense of humor and the funny stories he could tell will live on. He remained upbeat and joked with the hospital staff until his last day. He is now with the Lord and at peace.
