AMY A MES
AMY A MES

Preceded in death by her mother, Dottie Wilson Ames Buhler; and her grandparents, Dot and Joe Wilson and Betty and Roger Ames, Amy is survived by her greatest pride and joy, her children, Stella, Carlo, and Trip, who were her north star. She loved them more than anything in this world. She is also survived by her father, Ken Ames and his wife Margaret; her uncle, Terry Wilson; and her beloved dog, Flap.
She held her roots in Cuero. Texas close to her heart and often said there was no place like it. Though she carried a deep sense of wanderlust and spent much of her life exploring the world, she always dreamed of having a peaceful place in the country just outside of town where she could retreat between adventures. Wherever she was, Amy led with compassion. She loved animals deeply, from her beloved dog, Flap, to her pet pig, Hank, and her heart extended to every living thing.
During her years at Cuero High School, Amy was known for her leadership, creativity, and spirit. She served as Head Cheerleader, worked on the Gobbler Yearbook staff, participated in golf and tennis, student council, and was recognized for her unique sense of style and presence. Even then, she stood out as someone destined to live boldly.
Amy’s life took her across Colorado, Safety Beach in Melbourne, Australia, the British Virgin Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. No matter where she landed, she formed deep connections and left lasting impressions. From Melbourne to Colorado, from the islands to Cuero, she touched countless lives. Whether someone knew her for a day or for forty years, she never met a stranger.
Her adventurous spirit was admired across the globe. From snow skiing to sailing, to skateboarding alongside her children, she embraced every experience with courage and joy. She lived a life many only dream of, following her heart and her passions without apology.
Her senior class motto, “Take a chance today, for tomorrow it will be gone,” perfectly captured the way Amy lived. Though it belonged to her entire class, she embodied it every day. She took chances. She loved deeply. She lived fully.
Amy was always the light in every room. She was quickwitted, big-hearted, and born with laughter in her soul. Her smile, her generosity, and her infectious vivacity lifted everyone around her. She taught us how to live with openness, gratitude, and courage. She reminded us to be braver. To love harder. To live more honestly. Amy spent her final moments surrounded by her children and friends and passed away peacefully in Melbourne, Australia, on January 24, 2026.
A celebration of Amy’s life will be held on February 28, 2026, at the English German Schoolhouse, 205 N. Terrell, in Cuero, Texas, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Donations in her memory may be made to Cuero Pet Adoptions. P.O. Box 1073, Cuero. TX 77954
