On July 17th, 2024 Liliana Bangs, formerly of Yorktown, passed away surrounded by family after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s at the age of 87. She was born in Bolzano, Italy on January 25, 1937.

As a child she survived World War II. As a young lady she worked as a journalist for the newspaper in Livorno, where she later met the love of her life. After getting married, she had two daughters that she raised on her own while her husband was away serving as a Merchant Marine and later in the oil field.

Having her hands full didn’t stop her from accomplishing everything she wanted to; she even became the first female boat captain in all of Tuscany. Liliana and Nathan, her husband of 38 years, moved their family to Yorktown in 1978. Together they opened The Godmother Restaurant in 1981, and introduced Yorktown to her Italian cuisine. She enjoyed traveling, oil painting, working in her yard, playing canasta with her friends, and spending time with family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nathan Bangs; and brother, Renzo Frioli. Left to cherish her memory are her two children; Catia (Victor) Jendrzey and Arianna Brazelton; grandchildren Sierra (Aaron) Ibrom, Nowlin (Jennifer) Jendrzey, Davis Brazelton, Timothy (Elise) Brazelton, and Kirby (Ryan) Gupton; five great-grandchildren Addilyn Ibrom, Weston Ibrom, Waylon Ibrom, Theodore Jendrzey and Will Gupton.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 21st from 5 to 7 PM at Massey Funeral Home in Yorktown, Texas; with a Rosary to follow at 7 PM. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, July 22nd, 2024 at 9:30 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Yorktown, Texas. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Victor Jendrzey, Nowlin Jendrzey, Aaron Ibrom, Jason Ibrom, Forrest Aleman, and Dennis Saunders.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or Holy Cross Catholic Church of Yorktown.
