Alton Mueller, Jr.
Alton Alfred Mueller Jr., 72, of Yorktown, Texas passed away on Oct. 25, 2019 at home surrounded by family and friends. Born in Cuero, Texas on Aug. 1, 1947, he moved to El Campo in elementary school and after high school graduation attended the University of Houston and became a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
His senior year was put on hold to serve in Vietnam as a combat soldier from 1968-1969. Once discharged, he graduated from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches and went on to become an English teacher at El Campo High School and later a counselor at Crain Middle School in Victoria. Besides his beloved daughter Margaret, teaching was the most rewarding part of his life. He inspired his students and always had an open door to offer a laugh or an encouraging word. Upon retirement he moved to Yorktown and raised cattle on family land.
He was preceded in death by his parents Doris and Alton Mueller Sr., and his best dogs Bullet and Buddy.
Alton is survived by his loving daughter Margaret Mueller, his brother Ken Mueller, sister Sharon Kaiser, as well as their families, many dear friends, and his magnificent German Shepherd Gus whom he dearly loved.
Alton will be missed by all who knew him. He was often quoted as saying, “One life just isn’t enough!
There is so much to see, learn, and understand--it can’t all be crammed into one lifetime.” We know he will get to do more in his next life. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Taylor, David Neal, Ken Mueller, Ken Kaiser, Rodney Pedraza, Jimmy Hendrix and Bob Dylan. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of South Texas. A memorial in his honor will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Cuero.
