Beatrice D. Jahnsen, 84, of Cuero went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. She was born on January 27, 1940, in Coalport, Pennsylvania to August and Bertha Brink Traveny.

Family was the joy of her life. She loved her four children, cherished her eight grandchildren, but she lived for her eighteen great-grandchildren. She was most happy with all the family gathered around on the patio while enjoying the sun’s warmth on her face.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Jahnsen (Rosie); daughters, Brenda Gohmert (John Lloyd), Kay Lapp Arndt (Delvin), Denise McMahan (Jeff); grandchildren, Michael Lapp (Casey), Heather Squires (Russell), Stephanie Haverda (Benjamin), Johnna Pacard (Nick), Miranda Adams (Will), Brent Gohmert (Hannah), Mikayla Sebek (Blayne), Carly Waters (Chris); great-grandchildren, Mason, Lincoln, Everley, Parker, Koltyn, Hadley, Seeley, Slade, Rayland, Lyanna, Brantley, Callahan, Easton, Waylon, Clancy, Amos, Casen and Kensley; sisters, Nancy Hamilton, Beverly Peacock, Betty Lou Morrow and Pamela Repsher; brothers, Clifford, Dennis and Gordon Traveny.

Beatrice is preceded in death by her parents, August and Bertha Traveny; her loving husband of 60 years, Albert Raynold Jahnsen; son-in-law, Neal Lapp; and brothers, Eugene, Lynn and Roger Traveny.

One of her favorite songs was You Are My Sunshine which was only fitting because she embodied sunshine in every way. She enjoyed the pool with her family, tending to her precious plants and being outside made her the happiest. She embodied living like a ray of sunshine through her kindness, her open arms to everyone and her positive attitude and gift for seeing the good in all souls. She was a dedicated member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and Cuero Eastern Star. She was bright. From mastering puzzles, sewing, knitting, crocheting, card games and more, she was constantly learning and growing in her endless talents.

The light she exuded will be missed infinitely but we will continue to look to the sun and smile at the warmth she brought to our lives.

Beatrice, Mom, Memaw, Aunt BB, Bea, Ms. B, - a life well lived, a life well loved, a life fulfilled.
