Bernard E. Jasso, 71, of Cuero, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017. He was born May 20, 1946 to the late Jose Jasso and Marcella Garza Aleman. Bernard married Lena Lira on June 9, 1966 at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Cuero. Bernard served his country proudly with the U.S. Navy.
Bernard is survived by his wife; daughter, Vicki Jasso Hinojoza of San Antonio; son, Cristopher Jasso or Cuero; sister, Lisa Aleman of Yoakum; brother, Joe Jasso of California, Santos Aleman of Cuero, Sherman Aleman of Cuero, and Rudy Jasso of Cuero; and adopted grandchildren, Taylor Ahoyt and Tanner Ahoyt, both of San Marcos.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Tonie Jasso.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic church with the Rosary being read at 6:30 p.m. Services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Jacob Mendoza officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Jimmy Dela Cruz, Kevin Hernandez, Roland Hernandez, Robert Hopkin, Donald Johnson, and David Varela.
The family would like to thank all his caregivers, Erica, Stephanie, and Wendy, Harbor Hospice and South Texas Hospice, and doctors Mark Heard and Jennifer Gonzales, for the care given to him during his illness.
