Blanche Sari Wofford Burns of Houston went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, November 1, 2023. Blanche was born November 1, 1932 in Yorktown to the late Ralph and Louise Wofford. After attending Baylor University and majoring in music, Blanche married the love of her life, John Arthur Burns of Cuero on August 24, 1957. They moved to Houston and immediately began their family. They were married 39 years until his death. John and Blanche were wonderful parents who dedicated their lives to their four children and their numerous activities. They also had countless friends, and loved to entertain and travel.

As a passionate piano teacher for 30 years, Blanche’s gift of sharing her love of music affected the lives of many students, young and old. She was a dedicated member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where she was actively involved in the sanctuary choir and the Candlelighter Sunday school class for 55 years. She became a precious friend to many with her kind and generous heart.

More than anything, Blanche was a gracious and loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Clare Burns Hebert, Cynthia Kay Ward, John Gillette Burns and Douglas Wofford Burns, grandchildren, Beau Burns, Abby Burns Haffner, Mallory Burns, Jonathan Ward, Jake Ward, Kate Ward, Austin Burns, Mary Beth Burns, and Samantha Hebert. She was preceded in death by her husband, John and parents, Ralph and Louise Wofford.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Houston at a later date.
