Joyce Ann Williams

Ms. Joyce Ann Williams of Cuero went to her eternal resting place on Sept. 21 at the age of 80. She was born to the late Henry Brawley and Georgia Meadors in Mathis, Texas on Jan. 9, 1941.

Ms. Joyce was the founder of the African American Heritage Association, she was a foster parent with the Children Protective Services, and she was an Eastern Star.

Ms. Joyce is survived by her daughters; Laferia “Peewee” Howard, Brenda Joyce Fryer, Bertha Moore, and Vera “Lady Bird” Johnson, her brother Timothy Edwards, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Joyce is preceded in death by her husband John L. Spears, her son Timothy Wayne “Shorty” Johnson, and her brothers; James Henry Brawley, Clyde Lee Brawley, and Martin Eldrige.

Services will be held on Oct. 9 at 11 a.m. at Ms. Joyce Ann’s home at 150 River Ridge Road, Cuero, Texas.
