Lydia Carrera

Lydia Carrera, a lifelong resident of Yorktown, left this world to join her Savior on December 13, 2023, at the age of 86. Lydia was born in Yorktown on September 10, 1937, to the late Federico and Esperanza Villarreal Salazar.

She married the love of her life, Anthony “Tony” Carrera, on October 3, 1959, in Yorktown. They celebrated their 49 th Wedding Anniversary before Tony’s passing in 2009. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and neighbor to all that knew her. She was a nurse for 62 years and a lifetime member of the Primera Iglesia Bautista Church in Yorktown. She loved her Lord and her Church.

Lydia is survived by her children, Belinda and Brad Simpson, Charles and Renita Carrera, and Rodney and Shawn Carrera, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and sister, Manuela “Mamie” Rios.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tony, daughter, Laura Brown, grandson, Brett Brown, and sister, Consuelo “Connie” Banda.

A visitation and Prayer Service was held Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Finch Funeral Chapel. Funeral services were Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the Primera Iglesia Bautista Church with interment at the Yorktown Community Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorial donations to be made to the Primera Iglesia Bautista Church in Yorktown or the donor’s choice.
