Margaret Jeanette Drushel, age 70, of Houston, passed away on Saturday, October 2. Margaret was born on April 22, 1951, in Cuero to Heinie and Freida Bade. She was raised in a very active Lutheran family and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Cuero. She graduated from Cuero High School in 1969 as class salutatorian. She graduated summa cum laude and received her B. A. degree from Texas Lutheran University in December of 1972. She married Roger Drushel on December 29, 1972, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Cuero. After teaching in Columbus, Texas, she moved to Houston and began her career with Texas Workforce Commission. She retired from Texas Workforce Commission after 25 years of service.

Margeret was a long-time, active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Houston where she sang in the church choir and participated in Women of the ELCA Bible studies and service projects of the church.

Margaret is survived by her husband Roger, of 48 years; brothers Lawrence (Sharon) Bade of Kenney and David (Linda) Bade of College Station; sisters Lois (Butch) Tolbert of Cuero and Bernice (Bob) Huie of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters-in-law Claudia Bade of Allen and Robin McCullough-Bade of Baton Rouge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Norman Bade and John Bade.

A memorial service will be held on Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Houston.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Heinie and Frieda Bade Scholarship Fund at Texas Lutheran University, 1000 W. Court St., Seguin, TX, 78155, or to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 7901 Westview Drive, Houston, TX, 77055.
