Ray Barnett, also known as Pops, Papaw and Uncy Ray, has earned his wings on Sept. 14, 2020. He was born to Robert Barnett and Martha Garrett on Aug. 9, 1960.
He left behind his beloved wife of 34 years, Benita Barnett, with his four children he raised: Cynthia Zapata of Cuero, Richard Zapata Emadelia of Austin, Texas, Sandra Zapata of Cuero and Steve Dreyer of Cuero; and his beloved seven grandchildren with many great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces that will always love him for his kindness and so many friends that he made them to be his family, who will miss taking his his Bush’s tea, endless joy sticks of family pictures and his knowledge of entertainers. If you couldn’t remember a movie/song, ask Ray.
He was preceded in death by his parents; great-granddaughter, Katelyn Trevino; granddaughter, Dakota Sammons; and his best friend/family, Harold Neil Dreyer.
He may not be here, but to the ones he stamped his love on will think of his jokes, his gum, riding lawnmowers for fun and his long hair he flipped back over his shoulder and his laugh will always live on in our hearts.
Mass services will be held Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Cuero, Texas. Father Jasper Liggio will be officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
