With sorrowful hearts, we announce the death of Richard Wayne Myers of Ingram, Texas who passed away suddenly on October 8, 2023, at the age of 76.

Wayne was born August 30, 1947 in Yoakum, TX to the late Joseph & Loraine Long Myers. He grew up in Stratton, Texas, just outside of Yoakum. He was a country boy at heart and embodied every sense of the word. He loved to hunt, fish, bird-watch, and to spend time outdoors. He enjoyed a good glass of wine or whiskey and the laughter and conversation of loved ones. Wayne told great stories.

Although he spent most of his life in Yoakum, he also spent his time on the road and lived in several different states as a traveling salesman of western wear and accessories. He loved spending time with his son Brad, whom Wayne nicknamed “Cool.” He remained a devoted Paw-Paw to his granddaughter, Brooke Cook. No matter where his life or job took him, he was always there for her.

In 2007 Wayne met the love of his life, Cindy Bonner. The two lived in numerous locations together, including Yoakum. They traveled the world and recently settled into their forever retirement home in Ingram with their orange tabby, Sam, whom Wayne adored.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Loraine & Joseph Myers, his brother Samuel Clay Myers and son James Bradley Myers. Wayne is survived by his loving partner of 16 years, Cindy Bonner, brother Douglas Myers, and his wife, Wanda, granddaughter Brooke and her husband, Colt Cook, a great-granddaughter Rey Marie, daughter-in-law Teresa Myers, several nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom brought him comfort and joy. He will be remembered as a loving partner, caring father, devoted Paw-Paw and a friend to many, including Cindy’s son, Stuart Bonner, her son-inlaw, Mark Sapiano, and extended family.

A Celebration of Life honoring Wayne will be held at a future date. Details will be shared with friends in the weeks ahead.
