Robert S. Humphrey, 92, passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 16 in Nordheim. He was born Oct. 17, 1929, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Harold and Mae Hutcheson Humphrey.

He grew up in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Kaiser High School.  He was in the United States Air Force during the Berlin Air Lift and served 4 years before working for the Department of Defense as a civilian for 32 years. Robert was stationed at Kindley Air Force Base in Bermuda and Lajes Air Force Base in the Azores (Portugal) during his civilian tours of duty.

He was an avid traveler and took advantage of being close to Europe during his tour in the Azores and saw as many countries as he could.  He loved gardening which he learned from his father and grandfather.  Golf was his passion and he played several times a week until he was 90 years old.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Humphrey, and his children, Cathy Humphrey, Robert (Rebecca) Humphrey and Donna (Gregory) Waller; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters in Ohio, Joan (Randy) Dodds and Linda (Michael) Kuczka. He had a large family which included many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Harold Webster Humphrey and Mae Garnet Humphrey and his older sister, Gwendolyn Mae Humphrey.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the Spring and will be announced prior to service.
