Roberto 'Robert' Rogelio Garcia, 82, passed away on March 18, 2024, in Austin, Texas.

He was born on February 8, 1942, in Cuero, Texas. Robert graduated from Cuero High School and was recognized for both academic and athletic achievements, as demonstrated by a college football scholarship. He graduated with an associate degree in engineering from Victoria College, earning the class Math Award, and then furthered his education at the University of Texas at Austin. He worked for the State of Texas for 36 years, testing materials used on Texas roadways.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Luz Elida Martinez of 60 years; children Letitia and Lisa, Michael and Richard, Roberto (Robby) and Tamira; and grandchildren Joaquin, Tatyana, and Mateo. Also surviving are sisters Celia Moreno and Cruz Garcia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Consuelo Robles and Filiberto Garcia, Sr, his wife's parents, Clemencia and A.B. Martinez, and siblings Dora Villarreal, Esther De Los Santos, and Filiberto Garcia, Jr.

Roberto was dedicated and loving to his family. Not less than a week passed by without a meal with one or more family members and sneakily paying for most meals. He was Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and a stealthy cascarones (confetti egg) bomber. He was a loyal friend and was well known as a camera-carrying 'social bumblebee' and a creative dancer at every party.

His family and friends will deeply miss Robert. May he rest in peace. Sunday, April 14th, a Celebration of Life will be held at Sodalis, 7017 Menchaca Rd in Austin, TX, from 1:30 - 3:30 pm.
